Job Summary

The Executive Director of Student Wellness & Engagement oversees the administration of a comprehensive and vibrant student experience focused on student development, leadership, wellness, engagement, and employment. This position will provide direct strategic oversight to the departments of Campus Recreation & Wellness and Student Engagement & Leadership. The Executive Director will also be responsible for developing, enhancing, and overseeing the student employment initiative on-campus including promotion of the Live & Grow Well program. This program focuses on the professional development of our on-campus student employees and emphasizes life skills, professional competencies, and the holistic development of our students through nine (9) dimensions of wellness.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight of Director of Campus Recreation & Wellness.

  • Direct oversight Director of Student Engagement & Leadership.

  • Supervises all summer camp operations through Assistant Director of Operations.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Oversee all budgetary operations for Campus Recreation & Wellness, Student Engagement and Leadership and Summer Camps.
  • Provide strategic leadership in establishing and implementing short- and long–range departmental goals, objectives, policies, operating procedures and assessment plans for Campus Recreation & Wellness and Student Engagement & Leadership.
  • Expand upon existing programs that both support student wellness and engagement and enhance the student experience.
  • Develop new processes to improve efficiency in campus wide student employment protocols.
  • Design and conduct annual assessment of student satisfaction and professional development within the on-campus student employment program.
  • Maximize student employment and engagement opportunities to support university retention and persistence efforts.
  • Explore opportunities to develop new student-centered programs and initiatives that are supportive of the holistic well-being of campus communities.
  • Provide strategic leadership in enhancing the Live & Grow Well student professional development program.
  • Provide support and advocacy for Campus Recreation & Wellness and Student Engagement & Leadership departments.
  • Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Advise Student Affairs leadership in trends related to student engagement, employment, and recreation.
  • Oversee division wide student employment professional development.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with campus partners including financial aid, enrollment management, and the student employment coordinator.
  • Update and maintain a formal policy and procedural manual for campus-wide student employment positions.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Recreation, Sport Administration/Management
  • Preferred: master’s degree in a field related to Recreation, Sport Administration/Management, Health/Physical Education and/or Exercise Science.
  • 7+ years of related experience.
  • CPR/First Aid certified.
  • Proficient in Scheduling software: 25 live, When to Work, IM Leagues.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
