The University is open for normal operating hours.
In the event of an emergency, please contact Campus Security directly at (904) 256-7585. Officers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Emergency Preparedness Team is continuing to monitor Tropical Storm Nicole. At this time, we are under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Storm Surge Warning. Based on the current forecast, the National Weather Service has lifted the hurricane watches that were in effect for the counties just south of us.
University Operations
For the safety of our Dolphin community, all Jacksonville University learning sites will transition to remote operations and will close to commuter traffic on Thursday, November 10.
Classes scheduled to meet on Thursday will be conducted in an asynchronous online manner. In consideration of potential power outages, faculty members are encouraged to be lenient with students who may experience outages and have difficulty connecting to the Internet.
Students, please monitor your email for communications from your instructors about any needs specific to your classes or program.
Dining will be available at the Riverview Dining Hall in the Kinne Center.
Staff should plan to work remotely if possible and as required for any critical business needs.
The Orthodontics clinic will close for the day.
As a reminder, the University will be closed on Friday, November 11, in observance of Veterans' Day. The University will resume normal operations on Monday, November 14.
Current Forecast
Rain associated with Nicole is expected to begin later today (Wednesday, November 9) and continue through the day tomorrow. Localized flooding is possible, especially in areas that are prone to it, such as Riverside and San Marco.
Our county, Duval, is under a Tropical Storm Warning, which means tropical storm-force winds are possible in this area within the next 36 hours. Some areas may also experience powerful gusts, especially in open spaces like the St. Johns River and its immediate banks.
Tree damage and power outages are possible. There will also be a slightly elevated risk of tornados.
Please remember that strong rip currents are impacting our coast right now. It is important that you avoid swimming, surfing, and other recreational water activities at our local beaches.

The Emergency Preparedness Team is a group of leaders and experts from various areas of the University who work together to keep our campus safe and alerted to any imminent threats to safety, including severe weather and other emergencies. The team stays in close contact with local public safety officials and weather monitoring services to ensure our campus has the most up-to-date information to make informed safety decisions.
