Job Summary

This position is appointed by the Associate Dean with input from the Director of Innovation and Quality and Director of Undergraduate Nursing Program. This is a 12-month faculty position with a teaching load of 15 credit hours. Reporting to the Director of Innovation and Quality, the Student Success Specialist is primarily responsible for delivering and maintaining a comprehensive NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) Success. Plan in accordance with the philosophy, mission, vision, and values of the Keigwin School of Nursing. Other responsibilities include: collect and analyze metrics for quality measures, monitors and tracks progress of students through graduation and the NCLEX exam, provides individualized student outreach to at risk students, supports students by identifying barriers to success, (i.e., time management, priority setting, study skills, test taking strategies, etc.), develops, schedules, and provides supplemental instruction and needed support materials for identified high-risk courses, develops, recommends, and implements student retention strategies, assesses and evaluates a nursing student’s preparedness for clinical readiness, develops, schedules, collaborates with nursing instructors to develop intervention plans or strategies for students identified as at-risk for succeeding in a nursing course or the Nursing Program, and facilitates and schedules, in conjunction with appropriate faculty, review sessions, workshops, or study seminars for the NCLEX.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supports the Director of Innovation and Quality on undergraduate clinical partner enhancements.
  • Provides input on the annual KSON Undergraduate Program strategic plan with evaluation of goal realizations and re-assessments.
  •  Evaluates the effectiveness of initiatives, creates new methods to improve NCLEX performance, and proposes developments in curriculum to address NCLEX subject matter  areas.
  • Oversees and manages faculty and students for the culminating assessment of programmatic competence.
  • Serves as a point of reference and contact for the Board of Registered Nursing and provides professional leadership and support for theory and clinical teaching faculty.
  • Serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty to promote best practices for incorporation of ATI utilities into pre-licensure course content and testing.
  • Facilitate and promote the incorporation of clinical reasoning into theory and clinical curriculum.
  • Assists with the implementation of technology (Virtual Reality, etc.) into the curriculum.
  • Collaborates with the Simulation Lab personnel (KSON and Community Simulation Center) as needed for  student learning activity.
  • Consistently seek improvement in curriculum offerings.
  • Service on KSON undergraduate committee.
  • Serve on the NCLEX committee.
  • Advocate and promote student involvement in DolphiNurse alumni organization.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required
• Doctorate in Nursing (PhD or DNP) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
• Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) preferred
• Minimum 5 years previous nursing experience
• Minimum 1 year previous administrative/leadership experience
• Minimum 3 years previous didactic and clinical teaching experience

 

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communication and computer display screens
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
